🎃THE DIGEST
Celebrate Día de los Muertos at Villa Parke
Pasadena announced Día de los Muertos celebration on Friday, Oct. 24, from 5–9 PM at Villa Parke Community Center (363 E. Villa St.)!
This free community event will feature traditional altars (ofrendas) honoring loved ones, dance performances, arts and crafts, and food for purchase.
Hosted by the City of Pasadena and the Latino Heritage Committee, this year’s theme, “Un Pasado con Orgullo, un Futuro con Esperanzas” (“A Proud Past, a Hopeful Future”), celebrates the strength and spirit of Pasadena’s Latino community. Bring your family for an evening of culture, color, and remembrance.
Boo Bash with the Badge Returns to City Hall
The Pasadena Police Department is hosting its annual “Boo Bash with the Badge – Trunk or Treat Halloween Extravaganza” on Thursday, October 30, from 4 to 7 PM at Centennial Square (100 N. Garfield Ave.).
This free, family-friendly event lets kids trick-or-treat among decorated police vehicles, play games, enjoy music, and load up on candy. 🍬
The department, along with the Pasadena Police Foundation and Day One, invites local groups to join in by decorating a trunk or donating treats.
I of course, will remind you about these events
Pasadena Rallies Around JPL Workers After Layoffs
Mayor Victor Gordo is extending support to the 550 Jet Propulsion Laboratory employees recently laid off as part of NASA’s restructuring. “JPL’s scientists, engineers, and staff aren’t just innovators—they’re our friends, our neighbors, our family,” Gordo said.
The city’s Workforce Development Board, in partnership with Verdugo Workforce and JPL HR, is offering help that includes career counseling, job search services, and training assistance. Some funding may also be available for tuition, tools, and relocation.
Gordo called JPL employees “the best of who we are,” adding that their creativity and dedication will continue to make Pasadena the Center of the Universe.
