Europa Clipper on its Way
Congratulations to our very own Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) on the successful launch of Europa Clipper! NASA has sent the Europa Clipper spacecraft on its way to explore Jupiter’s moon, Europa. This groundbreaking mission, developed right here in Pasadena, will study the moon’s subsurface ocean in hopes of finding conditions that could support life. It’s an exciting chapter for JPL, continuing Pasadena’s proud legacy of space exploration.
Pasadena’s Dr. Elisa Pérez: Principal of the Year
October 13-19 is the Week of the School Administrator and Pasadena is honoring a principal of the year. Congratulations to Dr. Elisa Pérez, Pasadena’s Principal of the Year! As the leader of Madison Elementary, Dr. Pérez has championed initiatives that boost reading proficiency and build a supportive community school model. A first-generation college graduate and social justice educator, Dr. Pérez is making a meaningful impact on students’ lives, bringing academic and health resources to families while striving for equitable opportunities for all children.
Grant Announced to Clean San Gabriel River
Amid the backdrop of the roaring San Gabriel River headwaters, federal and state environmental agencies unveiled a $3.5 million grant on Tuesday, Oct. 15, to remove trash, debris, and pollutants from the river. The event took place near the entrance to the Angeles National Forest, marking a significant step toward restoring the river’s natural beauty and health.
